MARANO OF CASTENASO AND SURROUNDINGS

We suggest the following places close to the Agritourism for those wanting to take excursions in the Bologna countryside:

- MUV: Villanova Civilization Museum

Recently recognized as “Museum of Quality” by the Institute of Cultural Heritage of the Region, MUV takes visitors on a ancient historical journey. Visitors feel as though they are immersed in the Iron Age and are given great knowledge on the history of archeology. One can find Iron Age artifacts that were excavated from Marano of Castenaso and the surrounding area.

- PIEVE DI SAN GIMIGNANO (CHURCH)

The original structure dates back to the 1300s but was later destroyed under the attack of Cesare Borgia’s forces in the 1500s.
The current structure dates back to 1929, when it was rebuilt in a neo-gothic style that stands to preserve the bell tower from the XVI century.

- CHURCH OF OUR LADY OF THE PILAR - AT CASTENASO

This church is famously known for housing the marriage between Gioacchino Rossi and the singer Isabella Colbran in 1822. The couple later decided to live in the church. Inside the church there is a Baroque style sanctuary with the Virgin of Bolognini.

- VILLA MOLINARI - PRADELLI

Known today as Villa Marana, the property was originally owned by the famous music Maestro (teacher) Francesco Molinari Pradelli (1911-1996). The villa houses private family collections, including “Announcing Angel” and “Virgin Announced" by Luca Giordano.
